Just north of the of Raleigh in the small town of Youngsville, NC lies a gem of a farm called Hill Ridge Farms. Sunday was very overcast October day when I arrived to photograph Oscars birthday party. The parking lot was packed with mini vans as families came in droves to enjoy the farm. Hill Ridge is known its gem stone panning, train and hay rides, play land, giant slide, old time farm equipment, and educational exhibits. In October, the farm is also known for its pumpkins during the farms Fall Harvest and Pumpkin Festival. An overcast day would not stop fun on the farm especially for a John Deere loving birthday boy named Oscar and his friends and family. I am so glad that his mother contacted me so I could become a Hill Ridge farm birthday party photographer for the day.
All the party-goers met out front of the farm entrance right next to some of the tractors so they could line up in a birthday caravan led by the birthday boy and Hill Ridge farm party guide. These next shots were taken as the party headed to catch the Hill Ridge Farms Express gasoline-powered steam engine train.
On the way to the train we needed to stop to see some of on the live critters. Oscar is so animated and full of life!
While we were waiting for the run of the train, Fred entertained all the kids a magic coin trick. Oscar is trying the trick on Fred here. The farm staff treat people like royalty with their smiles on their faces and their willingness to make your visit/party enjoyable.
The train is coming! The train is coming!
Now this is getting ready for a train ride! The birthday boy got the front seat with one of his best friends!
Pumpkins for everyone!
You knew that this kid was happy when he moved his stuck out tongue side-to-side. The tongue was out and wagging all day.
One of the youngest party guests hung with her grandfather all day. Love the cute fall outfit!
Oscar and his sister both love birthday cake as you can tell from these photographs!
Nothing beats sharing a slice of cake with grandma!
The farm swings are not just for the kids! Sometimes we need three generations to have a turn.
Anyone for a fall hay ride?
I asked this guy to give me a mean face and this is what I got!
Playing in the corn building sure does beat playing in the sand!
I have a soft spot for father and son moments!
Mother and son moments are cool too!
We all had a great time at Hill Ridge Farms!
